S06E08 – Thoughts, On Sundays.

“The beauty of Naked & Baked is in the fluidity of brilliance, in all its iterations that it affords”. While the credibility of this statement may raise a few eyebrows because of the word ‘brilliance’ instead of a more seemingly apt word (like madness), there is a strong whiff of truth in it.

On another episode of the acclaimed best podcast this side of the solar system (a statement that makes me chuckle as I write these notes, having just watched ‘Interstellar’ again this weekend), El Capitan shares a major lesson learned from the journey so far as a transitioning storyteller.

“On some level, when you have a dream and you’re trying to make things happen, because it’s your dream, you have to make it happen. When somebody else also believes in that dream of yours and does their bit to help their dream…it’s very validating” (18:03)

The episode also takes us back to the Sundays of the late 90s and early 2000s, as Cavey takes us on a ride in memory lane, the ripple effects of intentionality as they translate to being answers to challenges not envisioned yet and the role of deliberateness in finding happiness.

“Life is one day at a time; make the absolute best of each day as it comes and you’d find that, your life would be full of, at least to best of your control, beautiful memories because they were intentionally crafted” (6:31)

While his sense of humor may be riveting, umfortunately (not a typo, the episode gives context) this might not extend to the captain’s singing, thankfully a fascinating insight on Nigerian women shared does him the service of distraction; with this episode, again, one can’t but understand the claim in the first sentence of this article, outrageous as it reads.
